Underarm Sweating Treatment

Underarm BT-X applications are one of the most preferred methods for the treatment of excessive sweating. BT-X applications are performed on areas with excessive sweating. Underarms, palms, soles of the feet, and scalp are frequently treated areas. BT-X applications reduce the activity of overactive sweat glands. Excessive sweating has a negative impact on a person’s social life. Therefore, satisfaction is high after Botulinum Toxin application.

Underarm BT-X applications are performed in a clinical setting. It is a procedure that takes 15-20 minutes. The effect starts after 10 days. The effect of BT-X applications lasts an average of 6-12 months. The most frequently asked question is whether there is any harm to the body if sweating is reduced. BT-X applications reduce sweating in specific areas but do not eliminate it, and sweating in other parts of the body continues.

While sweating is a normal process in the human body, excessive sweating causes significant problems. The excessive activity of sweat glands leads to certain disruptions in a person’s daily life. It poses many obstacles in terms of clothing choices and social life. Excessive sweating is a problem seen in 1% of the population. Excessive sweating can be observed particularly in the palms, soles of the feet, underarms, and to a lesser extent in the face, groin, scalp, and coccyx.

The most important causes of excessive sweating include stress, diabetes, various stimulating medications, overactive thyroid gland, diseases of the adrenal gland, menopause, hypoglycemia, obesity, and hormones.

Individuals often complain about excessive underarm sweating. Excessive sweating causing marks on clothes, a wet appearance, and a foul odor can be disturbing for both the individual and the people around them. Botulinum Toxin applied to the underarms significantly reduces sweating in such individuals. Some people may experience excessive sweating in the palms and soles of the feet. In cases where this problem is psychological, social, and problematic, BT-X treatment can be applied.

In cases where BT-X treatments are not effective, surgical procedures such as clipping or laser ablation of sweat glands can be attempted. This is because, although rare, there are cases where BT-X treatments do not provide any benefit.
